simple question about medications..

I got some maracyn for my bala shark's fin rot, do i need to remove my filter that has the carbon in it before i put medications in the tank or no?

Most definitely. Carbon will remove the meds. I see you are using maracyn, I do not like using these types of medications unless it is as a last resort. Try using PimaFix and MelaFix. These are natural herbal medications and are much less stressful on you tank's ecosystem and biosystem.

roger that. I only started using the maracyn because the chick at the fish store (besides being really cute :P ) said she uses it and would recommend it, yadda yadda i know all about the junk they spew when they want to sell something...

but should i stop the maracyn and get one of those or should i keep it up for the 5 days and then try one of the others if its not successful?

Bz:

IMHO and if it were my fish I would cease the maracyn and begin dosing with MelaFix.
