This morning I found out that my platy that I had moved over to my fry tank on the 7th of this month finally dropped her fry. So far I think that I have counted at least 8 fry, although there may be more considering all the hiding spots that are available. I am sure that some probably got eaten, but that is how things go. Will try to see if I can get a better count on everyone later.

Well just cleaned the bottom of the tank, and I have counted at least close to 30 fry, still not sure of the actual number since the do move fast and have some hiding spots in the corners. Will be trying to get some pictures in the next couple of days.

Wow! That's a lot of babies.
My female platys always seem to be pregnant but i never get to see any fry because they're in my 75 gal. community tank. One of these days I might get a surprise survivor or two.

Yes there is quite a few in there  I know that my other platys have dropped their fry since I got them almost two months ago, but they are kept within a community tank and I have only ever saw one fry in there. Unfortunatley I do believe that it ended up becoming a snack for one of the other fish, because I never did see it again after that one sighting. I have been thinking about getting a 29 gallon which I might do soon to be able to grow the fry out in, especially if I move my pregnant females into another tank till they give birth.

Update with pictures
Okay over 24 hours since fry was dropped and I believe I have counted over 30 fry, pushing close to 40 maybe even more  Going to need to be getting a larger tank here soon in the future. Have already checked with the two local pet stores in the area and they will buy the babies when they get bigger, and I believe that I may have a third, need to check still. I also have a person at work who might be interested in getting a couple when they get bigger. So at least I feel that I have a plan on what to do with all these babies once they get bigger. They are definitly more active today, swimming more around the tank and not hanging out as much at the bottom of the tank. Here are a few pictures taken yesterday while a day old. Will add more pictures as they grow.
this morning i awoke to a bunch of baby eastern mosquito fish

Update, the fry are about a month old now and have grown quite a bit in the last few weeks. Many of them are starting to show their colors and it looks like I have a mix between black red tailed variatus and pineapple platys. Some of them are starting to show their orange, there are still some that are still light in color. Will be interesting to see what their coloring does. Will try to post some updated pictures in the next few days.
