Trimming Green Cabomba
So my Green Cabomba is getting huuuuge and I know you can trim it buy cutting them stem and planting that for a new plant but once its cut will the old one be "topped" or do new shoots grow off of it? I don't want to ruin the current plants but need to do something about it. Thanks.
Sorry I dont have an answer for you. I was wondering what type of lighting and size of tank you have?
cutting is fine and both plants will grow to look as it does now.
Usually when one trims stem plants, the upper (top) portions are kept and planted in the substrate and the lower portions are removed because they may lack leaves. But if this is not the case, then the older stems can be topped and left; new tips (2) will likely grow from the node, this is how you get stem plants bushier. The cut stem will not just continue to grow as a new tip itself. If that makes sense.
kmiceray, I have it in both a 5g with 15w 6500K bulb over it and a 10g with two 10w 6500k bulbs .
Thanks christople and byron. I think I get what you mean. the old one with go from this (l) to (Y) right?
