VIA AQUA AR-380 LIGHTING?
DOES ANY ONE ELSE OUT THERE HAVE A AR-380 SET UP? IF SO HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENT WITH YOUR LIGHTING....SUCH AS CHANGE OUT THE STOCK LIGHT WITH SOMETHING BETTER(50/50 OR MORE POWERFUL) OR POSSIBLY PERFORM A RETRO FIT WITH DIFFERENT LIGHTING ALTOGETHER?
They look to be Jebo brand tanks re-badged. I have a few of the Jebo 20's I use for quarantine tanks. The lighting was a little under par. I was able to use a larger ballast and different bulbs to make it a bit brighter. All in all I wouldn't do it again. I only did it because I got the equipment for free. If I had had to pay for it the retro would have been far more expensive than just buying a complete setup with high output lighting from the factory.
thanks for the input...i was hoping to somehow get a little bit more lighting out of what i have...its going to be a Cape seahorse (Hippocampus capensisso) tank so low light is ok but i wanted a few soft corals as well.
Mushrooms, zoanthids, and a few others will be alright. You may even pull off a cluster of sun polyps as they tend to shun the light. Check out chili coral for an interesting low light specimen. They lay flat looking like large red rocks by day and at night they inflate and become a frilly white. The trick will be to find "filter feeding" corals not algae related symbiants.
Re: VIA AQUA AR-380 LIGHTING?
i never did anything with lighting as of yet...but i did find a web site that sells replacement bulbs and some parts not to mention a retro kit...
in addition if you havent already done so i use an eclipse rite-size e filter on the bottom a phospahate removing pad that i cut to fit on top of that and then the black spongy thing that came with the unit on top of that and finally all the ceramic cylinders ultimately on top of that....i hope this helps...let me know how it goes
