Identify this gourami? Honey Sunset? I have 2 "honey sunset gouramis" in my 29 gallon tank. I bought them from petsmart but can't find anymore information on them labeled as honey sunsets. I've seen information on just honey gouramis but they look different. Here is the link to petsmart's fish guide. Honey Sunset Gourami - Tropical - Fish - PetSmart This site however, says they are honey gouramis just a different color variation and that they are "dwarfs" staying 2 inches while petsmart's says 4 inches . Honey Gourami, Colisa chuna aquarium tropical fish from Tropical Fish and Aquariums Which is right? Has anyone had these guys before? Thanks. |
i am planing to get one soon i would have to say i am not sure. BUT i would not trust Petco, the size my have to do with the store not wanting to be liable for saying 2in and have a fish grow to 3 or even 4. |
Nah I'm pretty sure stores just pull numbers out of the air and stick them on those cards. |
The species of the fish in the linked photo is Trichogaster chuna, whatever "common" name they may apply. I used the common name Honey Gourami for the profile. As noted therein, 5 cm (2 inches) is the usual maximum length though some sources do suggest 7cm (just under 3 inches). |
I have a male and female in my 55 gallon the male is stunning when he is courting the female. They are not at all agressive with my other fish. |
