Welcome to Fishforum.com.

What size is your tank? That is an oscar growing to 12 inches or more. One oscar alone needs a 55 gallons minimum with powerful filtration. Also a piscivore (fish eater).

Yep that is a little dyed oscar. Id say 75gal min.

bolty 08-13-2007 05:05 AM

Dyed?
looks like a "Albino", "Albino" Astronotus ocellatus AKA Oscar, Velvet Cichlid, Marbled Cichlid

and they say a 55G is the minimum for 1 oscar, and most sites that say that also say "55U.K gallons" whitch is just under 66US gallons

a 75US G's would give the fish some more room, as a 55g is the minimum but there would not be mutch room for a 12 - 14inch fish to move around

I must admit the speckles on its body look a bit suspicious in that they look like they could be dyed but the only varieties of oscar I have seen are red oscars and tiger oscars. The thing that seems suspicious to me is that they appear to be bright pink, but it's hard to tell from the photo. It may well just be a different variety of oscar like you mentioned.

There is one way to settle this. Spedy, do you have close-up pics?:)

In my opinion the fish is moving fast and the stripes are all screwed up. It looks like an albino tiger oscar. and julie here is a pic of one for you.

You're probably right. I can't see that photo you posted. I have seen albino tiger oscars it's just because this fish it looks like they're pink but again, hard to tell from the photo. You're probably, and hopefully right. :)

Picture is now showing up. Nothing wrong with image link but could be just occasional glitch.:?

Here's the picture in case it disappears again.
