Tegu

I have a columbian black and white tegu. Right now he is only 15 inches long and very comfy in a 55 gallon long tank. I would like to kno i anyone has plans for a build it yourself tank as i need at least a 6x3x3 cage for him as he will get 4ft and almost 20 pounds. I love that little guy.

And when he gets big i figure he can avenge his anole buddies with a killer cat named misskitty. lol

Any sujestions for something that big that can hold humidity and temp as i need a 110 + degree faren. basking temp any help is appreciated

is there a budget associated with it? for ease id just have someone make me a custom acrylic one, but thats just me, and im sure it would be silly expensive.

Try finding the costs of acrylic at the closest acrylic store near you. That would probably be your best bet is either cementing pieces of acrylic together or using a wooden frame and screws to hold it together, or both! For a top you could use chicken wire and a wooden frame. If you don't mind having only one viewing area then you could use wood for the rest of the enclosure and only have one wall acrylic. That would be the cheapest but it will still be rather expensive. You cant really get big creatures such as a tegu and not realize that your probably going to be spending a pretty penny here and there. You could also build in a section for the Tegu to swim as they are excellent swimmers and you can add fish and other crustaceans into their diet. Use your imagination! Thats half the fun is creating an amazing environment for the creature your keeping.

i realized its was going to be expensive. I was getting ideas as i can do this (petco sells frozen fish that i will probably add to his diet of kiwi, occasional eggs, crickets, and mice. i am a member of reptile rooms and i am also considering this (totally tegu is me)

I really like his setup. Now he has 2 tegu cages stacked.

I would like to have an area where he could dive and swim around and hunt for food.
