New: taking steps to learn

Hi all, I just joined the community. :-)
I realized that I have become a perpetual newbie to aquariums, and I'm trying to reach a little higher level of ability. I have had a 29 gallon aquarium for 5 years now. I thought my skill level would grow with keeping an aquarium of semi-aggressive fish, but I seem to have plateau-ed during year one. :-? I'm happy with what I keep, but I want to grow a little. This community looked like a good place to do just that.
