Fluval 205 canister for a 29 gal tank?
Hi. I read on another website that 30 gallon is the smallest tank for a canister filter, anything smaller is served well by a power filter. I see that Petsmart has the Fluval 205 for 69.99 online and I think I saw it for even less in the store. I wonder if this is too good of a deal to pass up? Most reviews of the filter are positive except that it blows gunk back in the tank after cleaning. The Aquaclear 30 (150gph), that I've also considered is around $34 in the store. Any advice or input is appreciated. Thanks.
The Fluval just gives you more filtration options ... in terms of the media you can put in the filter trays. Plus a trick I learned from someone else is use 100% Polyfill (at a craft store) on the lower tray of the fluval for that extra mechanical filtration. It REALLY collects a lot of micro gunk the normal filter pad can't.
Don't bother with the fluval polishing pad ... not worth the $$$ .. and carbon as well. Just keep it on standby incase you ever need to remove meds from the water.
The Biomax rings yes.
