whats this loach
 
i have two of these sold as algea loaches..they are great little fella's very active

any ideas what they are?

My guess is it's a Garra flavatra.:D The coloration and stripe patterns seem to match this image.;)

nice one...they are cracking little fella's very active and quiet often swim mid water with my tiger barbs 8) they eat from the surface too ,i think they are confused :?


whats there "common" name please?

They are not confused. Your fish have been adapted to different feeding habits. My botiine loaches at times, for instance, feed on the surface and also on my hands instead of the bottom.;)

The only common name shared by all Garra species is 'False Siamese Algae Eater'.:? Your fish is in fact, not a loach but a garra species itself.

I've seen these sold as Bumblebee Garra Pingi.

I just remembered that.:lol: Another is possibly Stonelapping minnow based on this link but is still probably applicable to all Garra species.

Nice fish. I found some gastros at a lfs but I'm not ready to take them in myself.
