cherry shrimp and ich
A few of my fish have developed a light case of Ich. It would be a total mess if I tried to catch them for quarantine. So, will my cherry shrimp withstand dosing with a formalin, malachite green treatment? I had a ghost shrimp once that did fine with the treatment, but I don't want to just assume the cherry shrimp will. Any thoughts?

Formalin and Malachite green should both be expected to wipe out cherry shrimp... but especially the malachite green.
Well, I put in half a dose Thursday and saw a couple of shrimp bouncing on the bottom upside down. Time for a water change. Fortunately they all recovered.

Like I tried to warn you... those meds are toxic to shrimp. Plus, 1/2 strength meds will not successfully treat ich, which defeats the purpose of using them at all.
I actually gave it a try before I saw response. I wanted to see how they would do since the product says it will work at half strength and to use that with tetras. i learned my lesson. Now I am wondering what is going on my male molly and male guppy. They have start kissing almost like kissing fish. Odd. The other guppy actually feels shunned. He sits in the corner looking depressed!

The "kissing" type behavior is usually aggression between the 2 species, typically a fight for territory, females, or food (or all of the above).
You are totally right. The guppy took a big bite out of the other one's tail and left him cowering on the bottom. The guppy ended up going back to the fish store.
