Ten Gallon Planted without Fish/Golden Gourami 25 Gallon
Here is my newly planted ten gallon. My puffer fish and crab will be moving in here. Right now no one but a few snails live here and the plants but I already have runners from my pygmy chain sword. All the plants are happy, and though some are a little hard to take care of I am trying my best.
The only thing I need to do right now is get a background and also get a couple ghost shrimp to help finish out the cycle.
Here is my Golden Gourami in my 25 gallon sorry the pictures are so fuzzy
This is my new Bristle Nose Pleco
Very nice! Your ten is going to fill out nicely with the live plants. Do you have live plants in the 25 with your Gourami as well? My Gourami LOVES my Pennywort, she hangs out under it a lot of the time. They really seem to enjoy the floating plants. She also glides through the grassy areas and the swords. ha ha Your Gourami is quite pretty. I really like Gourami myself. I have a HUGE Opaline Gourami and a dwarf Red Flame Gourami (HE is new) :)
Lovely, indeed. Nice work.
Thanks guys ^^ I have a few plants in my 25 gallon but no floating ones. In fact I have no top cover, I was thinking I should get some Hornwort or Pennywort sometime soon because my Gourami seems to like hanging out at the top, and she seems somewhat skittish when I approach, though she is new. I have a lot of fake decorations along with lots of real plants and driftwood in my 25 gallon, just because a lot of the fish in the 25 gallon need caves and I can't find any good real stuff that makes caves in my local fish stores. Maybe I see it though and just don't think of it as caves? Got any ideas guys?
Yeah, admittedly, I have one plastic log in one of my tanks because my Rainbow shark loves to hide out in it. He guards the log but doesn't bother anyone else in the tank otherwise so it works in there. I did plant a lot of plants around it though so it blends better and is less fake looking. ha ha
I got the log at Walmart but it had this horrid plastic plant stuff stuck on it. I cut that stuff off and it looks a lot better. Another thing that works is small Terra cotta pots that you bury half way in the substrate on their side. Then you can put plants next to them and that looks nice and is more natural looking. It especially looks nice one the algae is growing on the pot and the plants grow up around them. Just a thought.
I think that the terra cotta pots sounds like an awesome idea. There won't be any issues with the terra cotta clay/material affecting the water or anything? Do I have to watch for anything?
Cute gourami and bristlenose! :D
What kind of crab are you putting in with your puffer fish? Just concerned because crabs need land area (minus micro crabs).
I have pots in one of my tanks.. As long as there's no shiny glaze on it you should be fine. I got mine from the dollar store.
