Guppy mating with molly??
My male guppy is constantly after my female balloon molly. Can they actually reproduce?
It has to be a female molly and male guppy, as female guppies cant safely birth such large fry produced by molly genes.
Muppies are infertile and cannot reproduce themselves, and some think they have a shortened lifespan.
Also, swordtails and platys can crossbreed.
It's time to play the music...
It's time to light the lights...
Does anyone have a picture of what they look like? Sounds kinda odd to me.
I thought they were called "Gollies" lol!
Nothing stops livebearers from trying to mate LOL! I think it is rare for a productive/successful mating to happen in a general aquaria setting but if it does, as previously mentioned the fry don't survive for very long. Just my thoughts anyway.
The picture is supposedly of a guppy/molly cross...I can't verify its authenticity though.
This link shows some great videos of someone who intentionally crossed the two and documented their progress.
