so what are everyone's favorite tetra's? :) just curious..
Although I haven't had any yet I really do love Rummy Nose Tetras
I've only had a few tetras since having tanks White Clouds for cycling my tanks got 10 and all qo survived the cycle and were rehomed (Very Very Hardy). I bought these ones from a local aquarium store and they were sold as feeder fish. I got 10 for $1. A small school 8 Harleqen Rasboras (Very Hardy), They also sell ones like the Harleqen called Espei Rasboras that are smaller in size or dwarf like but look the same for smaller tanks.Glow Light tetras a school of 8,
I currently have 6 Neon Tetras now ( Not so Hardy) started out with 12 and now have 6. Out of all the tetras I have had over time I like the Harlequen Rasboras because they are a nice size tetra and go well in a community tank as they are not so small for bigger fish in your tank. They aso have a nice Black triangle and some nice orange glowing colors and are non aggessive. My next choice would be the glowlight tetras as they have a nice orange neon glow to them. You can sometimes pick them up for $1 each when Petco has the sale on different tetras. The Neon tetras are really pretty but they need a cycled tank that has been running for awhile and after buying 12 at Petco for $1 each 1/2 are gone from sickness or they just were not very Hardy but I like those for their color and glow.
If you are getting Tetras always keep them in a small school as they do better. If it is a small tank get at least 4, bigger tanks you can get 8-12 or more. Or get 2 groups of different tetras if you have a bigger tank.
White clouds also do well in outside tub ponds and fountains as they are a cool water stream fish and do not need a heated tank to survive.
Pictures below are
my #1 = Emperor tetras
Rummies are my favorite also. Congo tetra are another one.
Hey Eileen, I don't mean to nitpick but Harlequins are Rasboras, not tetras and White Clouds are minnows. so technically these are not in the tetra family. Although Harlequins are another favorite fish of mine.:-)
The only tetras I have ever owned are the Colombian tetra. Which I currently have and those are cool fish especially at feeding time. They are soo quick lol
What kind of fish is this?
I found it on a beach in St Augustine Florida.
Not a tetra, thats for sure:-D . Maybe some saltwater expert(not me) can help you out
I didn't mean to add it to this post I jsut didn't know how to start a new post because I'm new. Lol. Thanks!
