Golden Algae Eater behavior
Hi, I have a 20 gallon with a few mollies and a golden algae eater. I was a little misinformed when I bought him, but i am moving him from the 20 gallon to a 55 gallon that I am picking up later today. (Hes grown from 1 inch to about 6 inches). My question is around this event. Iin the year we have had him, hes shown no aggression. Recently though, two of my mollies got into a fight with one being injured. After that molly was injured, the algae eater ended up chasing it alot, eventually killing it. Ive been doing alot of research on them, and finding that they can become aggressive as they mature, but not always. Was his aggression because my molly was injured resulting in it swimming slow around the tank? Or maybe because he has outgrown his tank? This happened a couple days ago, and I havent noticed any other aggression to the other fish. Im asking because Im trying to figure out what would be suitable to put with him in the 55 gallon. Ideally, Id like to stick with some livebearers. Keep my mollies, and then add in some platies and guppies.
fish usually attack dead or dying fish. it may have sensed decaying and chased the fella. aside from that algae eaters like that grow into aggression.as long as u have enough hiding spots u should b fine
