bichir

i think i may know the answer to this but im goin to ask anyways. well my friend is giving me his bichir due to it outgrowing his tank but will it eat my zebra danios.

If kept unfed it is a good chance that the bichir would take advantage of the danios. I keep giant danios with my bichirs and haven't lost one but i keep mine nice and fat.

ive got a question, how big to bichir get? and whats the tank size they can be put into?

cullens089 08-01-2007 09:54 PM

its about 4 inches and its going into a 90 gallon tank

Gump 08-01-2007 09:54 PM

it depends on the species. Upper jaw species are for the most part smaller and get between 10-24" and lower jaw species can get above 30"

well if they do get eatin its not a big deal cause at my lfs there 3 for a dollar lol

MattD 08-02-2007 02:32 PM

From what I've read, they'll eat anything that can fit in their mouth - and sometimes what can't.

I'd like to buy one so badly, but my tank is only a 40 gallon. :( :(
