do you know how to tell pacus apart from male or female

generally males have brighter red coloration and the dorsal fin comes more to a point. Sometimes the anal fin will of the male will have more of a jagged edge too.

I know of know way to distinguish the sexes of pacus. Some say that there are differences in finnage or body shape. I have never heard anyone that knows for sure. My suggestion would be to watch them closely and see which restroom they use. lol :dunno:

Yeah, what I said earlier was just a generality. You could still have a female with a lot of redness and pointier dorsal fins so it's not a clear-cut method but just a way to give you a better estimated guess.

Pacus can easily get over three feet in length.

I recently observed a pacu in a 1000G show tank and the pacu was well over two feet in length.
