Need suggestions for fish

My aquarium is 30 gallons and I have 6 cherry barbs, 4 corys, 2 bala sharks and 1 dwarf gourami. I would like to get another good sized fish, maybe same size as my gourami, 2-3 inches long, hopefully colorful. I need it to be someone who is likely to get along with these other members of my aquarium community and do well in this size tank. Does anyone have any ideas?

My first suggestion is to consider re-homing the 2 Bala Shark. This fish attains 12-16 inches and needs at least a 6-foot tank. If that is planned for in the near future, fine, but if not, I would suggest removing the sharks. They will have problems developing properly in too small (for them) a space, and aside from this, may become very aggressive to each other and other fish, all due to the space. Thanks Byron. I am thinking about that. As noted in the description, the fish store people neglected to tell me how big these fish would get and have already noticed they are bigger than when I bought them a couple months ago. How do you go about re-homing fish? Should I try to return them to the fish store?

If a larger (5-6 foot) tank is not in the forseeable future for you, then you will have to try giving them to the store or another aquarist who can handle them. If the store sold these to you without warning, I would try to get them to take them back. They should, if they want your continued business [just don't trust their advice;-)]. If there is a local aquarium club, they might know possible aquarists who would be interested in the sharks. Or an advert on Craig's List or similar perhaps.
