10 gal tank
About a week ago i set up a 10 gal tank, it has a 10i whisper filter and no heater, all i have in the bottom is gravel. I added plants to the tank the day after i set it up, and i waited a week before adding fish, 3 goldfish. I dont know what the plants are but there, i know, a fern and a sword, i think. i am going to try and add a picture, but my main question is sould a plant be groing roots halfway up the plant.
Almost every stem plant I have ever kept has thrown out roots all along the stem at one time or another. Primrose, bacopa Australis, Elodea, worts, and many others I don't remember anymore have all done it. It is perfectly normal for most stem plants.
Cant see them lasting very long in a 10G tank with 3 Goldfish. :)
Will the goldfish eat the plants? Because my black one never eats the food i put in the tank but the other 2 do.
Below are some pictures of the aquariium... the blacked out top right corner is where i dropped my camera
Looks really nice.
It actually does not look like any of them are Aquatic. The look like Mondo Grass or sweet flag, Some kind of terrestrial fern, and Dracena sanderiana. All of them will grow for a short time submerged but will slowly die so the goldfish eating them won't matter.
Here is a link to see if you can identify them.
If they are non-aquatic you can take them out if you want to save them and plant them in regular potting soil.
I bought them at Petco and the package said they could be either planted in a terrirum or an aquarium... which not that i think about it is two different environments... so i guess i will just take them out and plant them in pots till i set up a terrirum.
It sucks, I know but too many aquarium plant sellers do it all the time. There should be a law for a disclaimer but until then we have forums to try and help others not make the same mistakes. I would see if they would take them back and get some truely aquatic ones.
