Overhauling my tanks soon-Here's the plants I'm buying
These plants are being divided up into 3 ten gallons, a 5, and a 20 gallon long. Anyone want to comment/give advice etc, please do so!

Cryptocoryne Walkeri
Pogostemon Stellatus Broad Leaf (will be a challenge)
Echinodorus Ozelot (for the 20)
Nymphaea Stellata (Dwarf Lily)
Proserpinaca Palustris
Cryptocoryne Wendtii Red
Marsilea Quadrifolia (for a dry-start method)
Echinodorus Parviflorious (Rosette)
Water Wisteria (Hygrophila Difformis)
Ludwigia Natans (Ludwigia Repens)
Dwarf Hairgrass (Eleocharis Parvula) (For dry start)
Rotala Indica (Rotala Rotundifolia)
Ceratopteris Thalictroides ( Water Sprite )
Cryptocoryne Undulata
Cryptocoryne Pontederiifolia
Cryptocoryne Wendtii Bronze

I was going to try HC, but I changed my mind. I'll likely use several of the crypts and swords in my dry start as well.

I also plan on attempting to do some 'real' aquascaping in the 20. Any advice of plants conducive to aquascaping would also be appreciated. (I'll also be selling stem plants once they grow in.)

I'm normally not so impatient, but does anyone have exp. with any of these plants? I want to order them today or tomorrow... They might all go in 10gs and 5gs...

I think its a good combination, some of them i think you would need to be very creative for it to work, but i dont think anyone can give you an opinion until they see your layout.

If your looking for plants I can help with the Cryptocoryne Wendtii, L repens, and some other stuff I grow.

i was thinking more about your plant combo, question, what are you using the water sprite for? floating or buried? also how are you dividing up the plants? All crypt jungle tanks look fantastic and you have 4 right there, my 6g is almost all crypt and i think it looks pretty good: Attachment 29628 Plant combination wise, placement might not be so good, but the crypts look good together.

Yea, I'm a bit torn.. I was thinking about placing all the crypts in the same tank... Either my 5 gallon with my betta (since they grow slowly), or the 20 I'm getting.. (Since they grow large eventually and shouldn't be moved...)

So how did you end up deciding on how to arrange your plants?

redchigh 06-14-2011 03:39 PM

Still haven't. I tweaked the list, tweaked it some more, and then changed it back to what I posted more or less. They get here in two days... I'll decide then. :P

Are you setting up high-tech tanks? Some of the plants you have chosen i have read about being moderately demanding such as the marsilea and the dwarf hairgrass. What kind of equipment will you be running in the tanks?

redchigh 06-14-2011 04:16 PM

They'll all be medium-low light and no CO2.

Hairgrass will do in low tech.. We used to have a member here with only a tank-length single-tube fixture on a 75, and it did well.

Marsilea is the one I'm wondering, but I've heard it will work as well. It just looks like Glosso once the submerged growth kicks in.
