cory cat propped up on its ventral fins
Hey guys, like the title says, one of my false julii cory cats is just sitting on the sand, propped up about 45 degrees upward on its ventral fins, kind of like a stand. Its breathing slightly heavily, but I did transfer it and its friends to a bigger tank. I netted and put them in a bag, let the bag float and mixed the water, letting it sit for 15-20 minutes, so it could be due to stress. What I found to be really odd was the propping up against the sand; is that a sign of stress, or something worse? Thanks!
Oh yea, forgot to mention. New tank is 26 gallons, heavily planted, and has 7 cory cats in it. The other 6 are just fine and dandy; its just that single one.
The increase in respiration is the real concern. But as it is just the one it could be the results of the "move," they do not like being moved. Keep an eye on it.
Update, so its breathing slowed down a little bit, and its starting to swim around slowly. It seems like its just getting use to the new tank. Hopefully nothing else happens.
How's your catfish doing? Has he settled down? Just hoping that everything is ok:-)
I see all my cories propped up on their ventral fins from time to time.. As far as I know, this is normal behavior. The breathing is the only thing I would keep an eye on..
I'm no expert, but this is from my own observations over the years.
Hey guys, thanks for the replies. My cory is doing just fine now. It just took some time for him to get used to the tank. Thanks guys!
