the dimensions to the tank is 48" x 15" x 17". I just put 65 lbs of live rock and 60 lbs of live sand into the tank that is why the water is cloudy. i also added a teaspoon of calcium like i was told by my local LFS. More pictures should be up by tomorrow. let me know what you guys think

i would not dose what i did not test for but at the same time, i would test for alk, cal and mag in a either a fish only or reef setup with liquid test kits and dose properly. personally would always do RO/DI water in reef/fishonly setups as well. i also prefer refractometers ( search ebay ) over hydrometers as they arnt much more money and are much more accurate IMO.
how deep is that sand? i suggest less then an inch or 4'' -6''
a sump? skimmer? lighting? flow? stocking plans?

looking like your off to a good start and welcome to the forums.

i did use RO water and i do own a refractometer. im currently running a hydor koralia evolution 1400 for circulation, a aqua medic turboflotor 1000 protein skimmer, no sump, and i have a 48" t5 ho coralife lighting 108watt. my sand is just about 1 inch. My stocking plans are some soft corals but thats in a couple months. i want to put some clown fish to start off with then go for lionfish and flashing tilefish and unique fishes.

i dont think i would mix clowns with lions, even the tilefish. infact, i think i would keep the tilefish in the wild. the rest sounds good.

lol I did not see this thread before posting in your other thread...

A Lion would eventually eat the clowns, and any other fish that will fit in its mouth. Also with this being a 60g I would not put a Volitans in, I would go with a dwarf, such as a fuzzy or fu man chu. (Fuzzys tend to be more hardy)

Yea I think I would go with the dwarf so I can put some fish with it
