fish acting funny...

fish acting strage in my 10 gallon. they all seem to be eating a little less. they aren't quite as active. my ammonia and nitrite are 0 and nitrate is very low. as a side note, i lost one fish to unknown causes about a week ago.... no sign on parasites, no red gills, no obvious signs of infection or illness...just not themselves. any ideas?

What test kit are you using? Also, what fish do you have?

i use the test tube kits. and i know they are working, cause i ran some controlled test on my water before hand. they are not expired or anything. now some of the fish are eating again, but two of them kinda stare fixedly at the heater and are still eating less. no other obvious signs of infection...water parameters still all zero, with low nitrates. i have four rasboras and a male/female pair of cherry barbs (6 small fish total). good, clean water- i always keep up on my maintenance. i feed them a nutritious variety within their diet... so not really sure what's going on. since that last post, i had a fish death- lost a rasbora (i used to have 5 rasboras)- he died without any signs of ill health. just woke up and he had died over night. any diseases that might be less noticable that could be infecting my tank?

What temperature is your water and what is its pH?

How long has the aquarium been running?

How often to do perform water changes?

What types of food are you feeding? Have you tried frozen or live foods? Fish sometimes prefer those over flakes.

temp is about 78 degrees, i feed a variety of frozen / fresh and flake foods. they do tend to go for frozen brine shrimp more frequently. i am not sure what the PH is. i will test and try to find out

water changes are done once a week, 30%. i am careful to put water back in that is at the same temp..
