Greetings:

Recently I noticed what appears to be some growth in the gravel bed on the front side of the tank growing downward to about 1 inch. I checked the water parameters and they are right on the mark. The light a 25 Watt 24" tube only runs about 5 hours a day. I reduced the lighting months ago as I was running it for about 10 hours and Algae began to grow on the tank wall in the back of the tank. I removed it and it has never grown back. Do you think that the gravel bed is too rich with nutrients? What might be going on here ?:-?

If the brownish "growth" is below the gravel surface, along the front glass, that is normal. A photo might help just in case.
