Aqueon 50 wont fit :(
 

So I finally finished sanding down the cherry wood cabinet that came w/my 55gl aquarium which took 5 days to finish and stain. It is now a light honey oak. Moved my 36gl tank to another area of the house since room is an issue. Put the tank on the stand and attempted to set 1 of the 2 Aqueon 50 power filter's on the back of the tank only to find that the lip of the tank is to thick and the filter wont seat nicly...ugh...So do I take my dremel and cut the lip of the plastic frame away so the filter seats or is that lip designed to hold the load of 500+ pounds of water?. Yes could take them back but I got a sweet deal on them and like their performance.

I'd dremel the filter before I dremel a tank if at all possible.

I had the exact same thought before I read your post zof.

No way would I take a chance of remodifying the tank.
