what i cant shake off is are these real? they look real, but dont goldfish have 3 second memories? i keep thinking..is there anything the japanese cant do? :D what do you guys think?

IMO, they look more like toys with built-in magnets to me. I wouldn't expect fish to be trained quite like that.

Edit: I must be hallucinating. Now I see they look real too.

If oyu have ever seen the tv show Myth Busters you wouldn;t believe the 3 second memory idea. I would actually bet it can be done and that the video actually has the possibility of being very real. The Myth Busters taught goldfish to go through holes in plexiglass in a tank to get to the food at the end of the tank with the gholes in different areas of each of the 3 sheets of plexi. It took them a whole day to train them so given a couple weeks of steady work I would bet you could teach them to jump through a hoop on command.

Imagine what could be done with a fish that doesn't have the stigma of having a short memory :!:

Although I am not sure that the first set and the second set are the same 4 fish in each.

Then it's actually weird that the goldfish can learn that much.

i never knew. i should have given them more credit.

They are really cool. How did they do that??

Don't feel bad, I wouldn't have beieved it I didn't see it either. Gettinbg a fish to respond to a feeding cycle or something like thta is one thing when it is over a couple months or even a year but when they got the goldfish to swim through the holes in a few hours I had to rething what a fish could do.

I felt so stupid when I tried training my mollies to jump on a ring many years ago. I had thought before they could act like the dolphins but I realized it's something that cannot be easily accomplished.

one thing i know you can do is train a goldfish to tell you when its dinner time. placing a bell and a cord in the water and when the fish rings it, food is placed. before you know it all you hear is "ding-ding-ding-ding" i saw it on americas most funniest animal vids.
