6G Fluval edge stocking-HELP!
Hi everyone! Need help I'm getting cross-eyed from all the reading!!! I purchased a 6G fluval edge for our family and I need stocking help!
With everything I've read I think my latest decision is 1 powder blue gourami and several boraras brigittae.
So first my question is does this combo work?
How many brigittae could I have in there?
What about blue gourami vs.honey gourami?
And lastly would a dwarf african frog work in this tank with these fish? My daughter LOVES them.
Thanks so much in advance for your help! :-D
First thing, welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.
Now, to your question. I would not consider any of the medium gourami in a 6g with other fish. Especially the lovely Boraras that are very tiny and will be eaten by a Blue Gourami or even a Honey Gourami.
About the only gourami that works with Boraras is the sparkling gourami and in a 6g you could do a group (6-7) Boraras and a trio of this gourami. Live plants would make this work better, both for water quality and fish as these species both live among thick floating vegetation and will be skittish without it. A lovely display with colour and activity.
I would not include a dwarf frog. It would consider the Boraras food.
We have a profile section, second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top, or in posts if the exact name is used it will be shaded and clicking on the name brings up the profile, example Boraras brigittae.
You can browse the plant profiles for some suitable plants. Ceratopteris cornuta is ideal with these fish, or one of the stem plants allowed to float or planted in the substrate and allowed to grow trailing across the surface also works.
