Wondering if anyone has any input / experience with aquatop filters? thanks . Go SHARKS!!!!
I have experience with a Penguin/Marineland, Ageuon, and Aquaclear. The aquaclear so far hs been the best at filtering and removing cloudy water. I like that the sponge and the filter media are seperate. I removed the charcoal and put in some of the bio media along with a second sponge. When I change the sponge I can move the top sponge to the bottom as it's mostly clean, but would have bacteria, then put a new sponge on top and keep my bio media.
The aqueon hasn't been bad. I like the water polisher. I put my own floss in in place of the filter with carbon. I cut my aquaclear 50 filter in half and it seems to work really well. But the flow isn't as high as I would like it. But it came in a kit for a 20 gallon. I might invest in a 50 gallon model for better filtration.
I have an Aquatop that was running on a QT tank and it kept the water pretty clear. My only gripe was it was a really strong current going on in there in a 3 g critter keeper.
thanks for the info - watched the video for the Aqueon filter, looks like a really good product, especially if it's as quiet as they say.
I will say that of the two filters in the house, aquaclear 50 and the Aqueon 20, that the agueon is louder, but that is mostly from the water splashing though the filter and not the impeller.
