Question about my snails.
I had three mexican turbo snails. I currently have one left. The other two just dropped off the glass and fell to the sand and never moved again and died. What's going on? They have plenty to eat. My last one just dropped off but is back on the glass this morning? What's up?
From what I understand when MTS are climbing the glass it is a sign that there is something bad in the gravel or there is a problem with the water parameters. MTS usually spend most of their time in the gravel stirring it up. With them dying it could be a few things that cause it. The first owuld be not enough calcium which can be overcome by adding a calcium suppliment in powder form or by adding crushed coral. The next problem could be too much gunk in the gravel which is causing sufur gas and the MTS won't go in it.
Snails are very sesceptible to water problem, muc more than fish are.
We bought them to clean the glass and rockwork of the algae on it. They do a great job. At the store I didn't see anyof them in the substrate.
Sorry wrong snails. Clicked on a post that ha dno answer and got into salt water. Will teach me not to look at what category I am in before showing my "intelligence"
