Anyone try sand with Goldfish?

I'm going to be upgrading my 29 gallon soon due to Corsica getting a lil too big for that tank and since now I'm going to have the chance, I was thinking of going with sand as a substrate.

Goldfish are very high polluters so I know its going to be a challenge with the upkeep, but, all in all i think it will be worth it.

My question is, has anyone tried sand with goldfish?

I had sand for goldfish ages ago and I will probably never try it again. They crapped way to much and the sand ended up looking just disgusting. Maybe you could think of a way to keep on top of it but for me, never again hahaha

I did. Just not for me though. I have trouble trying to clean out all their poop. Never a pleasant sight to see poop on top of the sand. I prefer barebottom but it's your choice. Sand is fine if you really like it and don't mind the poop around there.lol

Black sand > white sand

That is if you really get bothered by black sprinkles around white sand. ^^^

I might just stick with gravel then...

Lupin, you said the sand didn't look right bcuz the poop was all over the sand and visible... But yet you have a bare bottom? lol
