question about stocking with Bolivian Ram
I have not found or got a Bolivian Ram, but I'd like one. What are thoughts about keeping one in a 43 gal tank with 5 dwarf rainbow fish and perhaps one female Opaline Gourami? I'm thinking about putting the Gourami in the larger tank I have, because she and the male in my 23 gal are keeping on seperate sides of the 23 gal tank, and I feel like he is bullying her, though by no means badly at this time.
Just not sure if I should move her over if I think I'd like to get a Bolivian Ram one day. My tank is pretty well planted.
Oh, and yes I'm aware a Gourami may not like being with rainbows, but I still think she may prefer it over trying to avoid the male Gourami I have in the tank she is in now. Just not sure???
I've read the profile on the Bolivian Ram before, but now I DO see they are fine with Gourami's so I guess I've answered my own question.
Sorry - didn't notice that before, probably because I wasn't thinking about having a Gourami when I read it. Now I have 2!! :-D
Just so you know there is a chance the gourami won't get along with the rams, I had a male blue gourami and added 2 rams to his tank, he immediately saw them as a thread and began bullying them. I just spent $20 on the rams and didn't want to risk losing them so I separated them right away until I could give away my blue gourami.
Great - that's good to know. I now have my blue Gourami by himself, except a snail :-D He was bullying the female so bad, and she is very happy in a larger tank with dwarf rainbows.
I will probably just get a few dwarf african frog for him - do you think they do okay with Gourami's? Or else just a few black neon tetras - I like them.
