Baby Oscar and Goldfish
Would a 3 inch baby oscar really eat a goldfish?
It can if you have a small enough goldfish but I think the biggest mistake people make is feeding goldfish too early. A lot of people buy oscars because they want to see them eat live food so they do it as early as possible. What happens though is people do it all the time and don't give the oscar anything else. Hole in the Head disease is very common to oscars and has been linked to malnutrition. Goldfish do not provide enough nutrients and they even contain thiamaise which breaks down thiamine in the oscar. You also run the risk of introducing disease every time you buy feeder fish. That being said, the oscars main diet should be a good pellet food as well as a variety of frozen food. Live food is okay, I just wouldnt rush it.
I wasn't sure if you wanted to feed your oscar a gold fish or if you were hoping the two were compatible. If you were hoping for the latter, they are not. The goldfish will need colder water while your oscar will require a heater.
Tank needs powerful filtration at this rate. Still, both are incompatible for several reasons.
