Whitespot - Salt Treatment?

hi all,
seems my fish have contracted white spot. i purchased Tetra ContraSpot and applied quantities as per the directions.
I discontinued use as my loach & clown catfish started to get very lethargic and just "looked" more sick than before i used the ContraSpot.
i've been doing daily water changes but the clown seems to be getting worse. won't eat, swims erratically and appears to be flipping over to rub his head on the tank bottom.

my local aquarium dealer is a bit of a joke quite frankly so i wanted to pass his recommendation on before going ahead. he said i should add salt (unspecified amount) to treat white spot. i've been doing some reading here and other sites and found some info but would like more opinions please.

tank is 54 liters (14 gal)
1 clown catfish
1 demasoni cichlid
unfortunately my loach didn't make it :-(

i have 1 live plant but if the salt treatment helps my fish i'm fine to sacrifice the plant.

is salt an option in this case?
quantities?

any info would be appreciated.
thanks

hmmm....doing more reading on salt treatment. apparently not recommended for scaleless fish such as my clown cat.
arggggg!

Try a copper based med. Aquaria sol or copper safe are good ones. Make sure you continue treatment for at least a week after signs disappear .
