hello all
im thinking of adding a refugium to my 55 gal live rock /fish tank.
i have the room and the ability to mount a 20 gal fuge above my display tank but im not sure if this is the best idea. id like to cultivate pods and such and bennefit from macro algeas also. im now using a HON biowheel filter and only have 4 damsels and a blenny...along with some snails,horshoe crab and a little blue leg crab. they all peruse the 70lbs of live rock in the tank quite well and all my water tests are top notch. any input to aid me in making my decision would be appreciated...

not sure how well that would work. sumps are best served below the tank. to have the sump above tank would require your return pump to be housed in the display tank, and evaporation would be visible in the display tank rather than the sump. If below is not an option, you might consider beside the display tank.

They do sell refugs. that sit on the tank like a HOB filter. So you dont need to add a pump and a tank and plumbing. Its about a 5 gallon, that has a light on it and a little pump that pumps water out.

For a 55 I know they have a really big filter and it will be easier and cheaper.

thanks for the input guys i decided to go with a hang on the back that has a protien skimmer...i like it
