rocks for african ciclid setup??
Hello im trying to find out what rocks would be good to add to african cichlid setup im using aragonite in tank so not looking for anything that will raise ph I know many people use lava and lace rock was wondering if I theres anything I could use at a landscape shop rather then buy rocks buy the LB and my LFS thanks
i've seen alot of tanks with slate or granite in them for cichlids witch should both be at landscape stores, i think anything you can make little caves in will work. i would clean them well and test to make sure their is no trace metal in the rocks and you should be fine.
The short answer is any rocks will work. I have seen cichlid setups with granite, slate, feldspar, sandstone, quarts, marble and a few more. If you are keeping cichlids I would go with something like limestone or sanstone. Both of these are angular flat rocks that can be leaned together to make caves and such. Round stones may look cool but they will be difficult to place in a way that give you cichlids good cover. I have kept both Mbunas and Tangs and almost oll my rock is either limestone or sandstone.
