question about Zebra Nerites shell

So a couple of weeks ago I transfered my Zebra Nerite snail from one ten gallon tank to the other due to a lack of algae and she wouldn't eat any of the veggies I was providing. Anyway, when I picked her up I noticed that her shell felt really weak and after posting a question about it I got a lot of helpful suggestions about what to do. I've been adding one Tums tablet to the water every two days and it seems to be working. I just transferred her back to the ten gallon tank she was originally in and the shell does feel like it's starting to harder back up. But I've noticed that she's developing some white spots on her shell. Is this from the calcium of the Tums or is something horrible happening to her?

Nerites tend to absorb heavy amounts of calcium just like trumpet snails. It's why they require extremely hard and alkaline water. The white patches could be resulting shell pitting prior to adding calcium to me. Any shots? Not surprising they're prone to shell erosions.

I'll try to get some shots. I got a new camera for Christmas and for the life of me cannot figure out how to take good close ups. The pitting does make sense and I'll keep adding the Tums tablets to the water every other day. Will this pitting go away or is this a permanent condition?

If the pitting is shallow, it's still reversible. It's very difficult for pitting to reverse once it goes deep.
