I use fishing line ties to rubber suction pads that stick to the bottom of the tank and covered by substrate. Most pieces will sink but it could take from 24hrs - 10+ years !
I have a piece in my tank that is anchored in the above method and after 3 years it will still bob to the surface if i take the suction pads off.
I have a piece of driftwood anchored by tying it to a couple of large rocks, using fishing line. Otherwise, it bobs to the top no matter how long I soak it.
I have a stump in a 56 gal tank that would not sink after months of soaking.
I got a large piece of flat, two inch thick flagstone from lawn center, and used hammer drill to drill a whole through the rock. I then screwed an eight inch stainless steel screw through the rock and into the wood.
Placed it in the tank and covered the base with gravel.
If I would get some then I would just buy some with drift wood on it
