diy sponge filter help
I have a 2.5 gallon tank for my betta and i bought a small filter (whisper internal filter with air pump) The filter is too big to be placed inside the tank so i decided to use the air pump and make a diy sponge filter.
So basically i place the air tube thats connected to the air pump inside a sponge about halfway. I turned it on and bubbles are coming out of the sponge but it does not seem to be sucking the particles into the sponge.
What am i doing wrong ? Also how does air blowing into a sponge make debris suck into a sponge ? surely it would just blow debris away right ? (how does it work?)
Lol that is now how you make a sponge filter. That just blows air through sponge. The air pump blows out air, not in.
Here is a good link:

Thats what i thought ! i couldnt see how blowing air out would suck the debris in.
This is the link i saw: -
Yep, very simple to make, simply doesn't work.
It's a big yellow airstone!
Haha that person has it wrong, like DKSRT said it is one big airstone! lol
