Heater inside Filter I have a 75 gallon tank that houses a turtle and 3 sunfish, i keep the temperature at 74 degrees. So because its only about 4 degrees warmer than if i didnt have a heater would it possible to put the heater inside the filter (emperor 400) Has anybody tried this ? I cant see a reason why it wouldnt work and it would be one less thing that would be seen when viewing the tank. |

I can think of a few reasons on why this is NOT a good idea. These items serve two different purposes, obviously. I don't think a heater should be placed inside a piece of equipment that was made to filter water. - you aren't trying to heat the filter,, you are heating a tank... I don't believe the heater or the filter would work correctly if you combined the two. However, maybe you could write to a company and make the suggestion to them. Who knows :) |
There are (or were) filters that had the heaters built in to them. If you have room I don't see why it would not work. Whether it would be more or less effective/efficient I'm not sure. |
