Uromasytx Geyri-Health questions/I.D.
Hey Guys, Apollo, My Uromastyx Geyri, (saharan/nigerian red) is doing well, he has all the signs of good health that I can find on the internet (plump wide belly, good colour, active, eating, pooping, etc. BUT...
The thing I am wondering/worried about is he has black on the tips of his tail. It is hard to explain, so I will post some pictures to help. It is not dirt or poop as we bathed him yesterday. I am not sure if this is normal and want to make sure he's ok.
His Statistics are:
currently in a 30 gallon long, but only until the summer, when I am going to build him a nice big wooden vivarium, so a month or two max. His warm side/basking area is about 115F ambient, and basking spot is 125F to touch, his cool side is about 80F. He eats dandelion greens as his main generally, and bird seed and kale and other leafy greens as extras. He had a bath yesterday (he's shedding and itchy) and did really well and is still quite happy :) and I've had him for about a month now.
Any and all help/knowledge is appreciated,
I'm no expert with uros but if he's eating well, his poo looks good (not too runny and no undigested food) then I'm sure he's fine and its just some coloring. Any idea how he was.kept previously? It could be that he wasn't given the proper heat before and now that he is he's showing more of his patterning.
yeah i wouldnt worry..it isnt uncommon for uromastyx to have a mild color change when in new enviroments...i presume you havent had him long..sounds like ther is nothing more you should do but some vitamin suplement and try some crickets once in a while..just a few..things should be fine..nice lizrd by the way..we got egypt and mali.
Thanks a bunch to both of u. I am pretty confident he is doing well too. I just wanted to make sure. Rather now thN when it's too late.
