Q for Cornelius re: old post Badis Badis -white spot on.

Cornelius,

I know this is a while after the original post, but i was wondering if you ever figured out what the problem was. I have a small colony of these delightful fish (9) and 2 of them are showing exactly the same signs. White spots on their heads, with either scales or pieces of skin sticking up. They show no behaviour change and are eating well, but are worrying me none the less...

Margaret.

Margaret, you're right, that sounds exactly like what my Badis badis had! Unfortunately, I was never able to figure it out at all. No one could give me a solid reason as to why that was happening. My best friend got a Badis badis from the same store I did, and the exact same thing happened to his too. The only thing I could think of was possibly parasites, but I couldn't begin to back that up with any respectable evidence. Where did you get your chameleon fish from?

Hi Cornelius,

thank you for replying to my post. I got my fish from a fellow aquarist and have no idea where he got them from originally. Did you try to treat them with anything at all?

Margaret.

I was using Melafix and doing about twice as many water changes to keep the water nice and clean, but it never seemed to help. Do you have hard water??? I always wondered if that may have anything to do with it...

I feel so dumb for not being able to help you, but I could never find a cure for mine either. I'll keep tryin but if you do figure something out, let me know right away, please!
