New molly with fin damage. HELP!
2 of my older fish died last week so i went to the shop yesterday to get some mollys and found some really nice ones. when i brought them home they were all good and well except for the silver lyretail male molly i got.
His tail fin has a bit of damage on the top and a little on the end at the bottom.
What do i do? Is it just a case of it will heal itself, or is it fungas, is there any medication i should use.
P.S. sorry the pics are so big i cant resize them on my computer at the moment.
The tuft on the bottom ray does look like fungus. However, I've read, on another forum, that most of what looks like fungus on fish is caused by bacterial problems, because true fungus only grows on dead cells. Anyway, I'd try Melafix. I've found that it usually gets rid of tufty things, as well as helping with fin/tail issues. If that doesn't work, or if it gets worse, then you might want to try Pimafix, or something else for fungus.
Keep the water pristine and perhaps add a tiny amount of aquarium salt for the minerals. Pimafix and melafix certainly don't hurt, either, when dosed properly. :)
