Convict cichlids being aggresive
Hello, I have 2 male convict cichlids in a 20 gallon tank right now. I was just wondering if you guys think this is ok. They are both pretty small right now but one seems 2 bully the other. There was originally one cave in the tank, but i added another to try and see if that would deter some of the aggression. Anyway i was just wondering if these guys will make it long term?

No they will not make it long term. Especially in a tank that small. Remove one of them immediately and trade it in for a female. You will also need to add more caves for them to thrive

So do u think a male and female would be ok in a 20 gallon?

Whether or not they will be perfectly okay I can't say, but they will be much better off than 2 males in the tank.

having a male and female could be dangerous for the very reason that they are easy to spawn and then they get just downright MEAN. A friend of mine had a breeding pair of them and we had to design a piece of plexiglass to fit down into the tank for cleaning because the parents would guard their young so well they would even bite the human hand!
