German Rams 2 pairs or 1M3F?
I am working on a 75 gallon south american tank right now. The centerpiece fish will by Rams and I would like to do four of them. What I am not sure of is should I do 2 male and 2 females or 1 male and 3 females? All else equal would probably do two pairs but if aggression is an issue between the males then happy with 3 females. Just wanted to see what others thought.
I agree but would the other females add to the egg collection when they spawn and how does 1 male three fmales sound in 38 gallon

Number's I suggested were for 75 gal tank mentioned in thread .
Males generally mate with one fish at a time and help gaurd,Fan the eggs.
One male and one female in 38 gal. Otherwise there won't be enough room for fishes to avoid each other during spawning and these little fish are fierce while protecting their eggs.
Mikrogeophagus ramirezi is a species that should be kept in pairs. The male will form an attachment with a female and be very content if there are no others of the species around. It is also best to let them choose their mates. This is often easy to observe in store tanks, the pairs will be together and easily identified.
