endler not endler Hi I was wondering what is the difference between endler guppies and normal guppies... also if I bred a forktail guppy with a delta guppy would the tail be a extra long fork tail?? |
I'm surprised your butterfly hasn't devoured all your fry! Your fry could have a variety of different tail styles actually (as long as they continue to survive the butterfly) |
yah I am too they fry hang out in the top strata and he laves them alone, maybe because I feed him crickets. So what is the difference between endlers and not endlers |
1. Guppies are a very mixed fish. ndlers tend to be smaller and with smaller tails and lines of colors. They are also more rare. 2. No. Biology doesn't work that way. Genes are either dominate or rescessive. Like blue guppies are bb (or recessive) meaning that if they are bred with a yellow guppy (yellow is a dom. color), unless the yellow guppy carries the gene for blue, all the fry will be yellow. Tails work the same way. The babies will either have fork tails or delta tails. |
thank you for the info |
I don't really know if there is a difference between wild guppies and endlers, but endlers look a lot like wild-type guppies. They have silver bodies, and the males have a variety of colored blotches on their bodies - I've seen green, blue, red, yellow all on the same male. The females have very little color. They are also smaller than the fancy guppies, with males not much more than an inch. |
okay |
Endlers are a different species then guppies. Hence the different appearance and behavior. |
but they are related |
They are about as related as a wolf and a poodle. They can be bred together, but who would do it? You'd be left with a mean little ugly dog. :P Endlers are slightly smaller, and often have more color on the body and less on the tail. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_YjQIfAzTfZ..._endlers_1.jpg Guppies tend to have less body color and brighter tails http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZS_ya0mifg...py+strains.jpg In addition, endlers are a bit smaller, and the females have a more golden sheen to their scales, where female guppies are a bit more silver-gray. Many endlers you buy at pet stores and such will have some guppy DNA in them due to their willingness to crossbreed. |
