Guppy fry question
Are large bellys typical in guppy fry? I have a dozen or so guppy fry (some about 10-14 days, some about 3 weeks). They seem to be doing well, but all look like they have "pregnant" bellies. Do the fry, after eating(?) have rather large bellies? They are in a planted tank with lots of vegetation, so they may just be snacking. I'm worried about moving them to another tank and transfer of internal parasites...
I'm assuming that if they survived in the tank for 3 weeks, they are healthy?
Their bellies expand quite a lot after eating since they are so small it's really noticeable, I doubt they have internal parasites, but you can always look for other signs. The fry are probably just snacking like you said, it takes very little to fill those tiny bellies to look whats like bursting
Probably overfeeding a bit... I only feed my livebearers (adults and fry) 3-4 times a week.
In that case, I'm waaay overfeeding! (2x day)
I always fed my fish twice a day but only very little (especially if they are fry), I never suggest not feeding a fish for a day
Between the feedings and the other "stuff" in my 55g planted tank (algae, other detritus, and microscopic critters), I don't think the fry are going hungry!
