Baramundi (australianFreshwater Fish) White/fluroescent ball
I have two small baramundi fish in a 3ft tank with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite and 5 nitrate temp 24 degrees and PH of 6.8. I have had these baramundi in my tank for about 2 weeks and one of them seem to be developing like a little ball of fluff white around its head and gills. It seems to be fine and all but i was worried it could be leading to something bad could this be like cotton wool disease (if thats what it is called) and what should i do to treat it i have tried salt this morning and it seemed to go a little bit but when i came home tonite it seems to be back more than this morning! what treatment could i use what would help!!!!!!!!!!!
not sure what end of the coast you are but if you ring G & S Aquarium@ Runaway Bay 55290394, there is a guy, Barry, that works there on Wednesdays and sundays. He use to have the big shop @ the Brickworks years ago, that had some awesome Barra...I'm sure he could help
Sounds exactly like fungus to me which rarely happens. Did it have wounds before you saw the fluff? Fungus can appear if the wounds are not treated immediately or if the water conditions are far from ideal. If you have a quarantine tank, isolate the affected fish immediately and use methylene blue to treat it. Any meds containing methylene blue should hopefully put a stop on its development.
