Powerhead for 10g quaratine tank?
I need a sponge filter for my 10g quarantine tank. I'm using a small HOB filter, but want a sponge filter that I can keep in a stocked tank between quarantine tank uses. I'd prefer a low-velocity system since my current HOB shoves the fish around in the small tank. Any recommendations on a good low-flow powerhead or would I be better off using an air pump in this small tank? I was thinking of using the Hydro II sponge filter. Looks like it would be easy to move from tank to tank. Would it work effectively with an airstone?
Even small powerheads produce respectable current so if you don't mind the afore mentioned humming from air pump, then air stone and pump would be my choice.
I use Hydro sponge filters both with powerheads and air stones. they are very effective biological filtration and fair at mechanical filtration if properly sized for your application.
