African Cichlid Identification

Hello!

I need a little help identifying this fry I just got... I'll admit he was an impulse buy but I really want to care for him properly. The small petstore I got him from didn't specify what type of african cichlid he was, and now I am reading that It is important to know what kind in order to feed/care for them properly. He is currently alone in the tank. Any advice on what type he is/how to care for him would be greatly appreciated... He is 1 inch long roughly and is grey-ish but shimmers a blue color (which you cannot see from the pictures.)

I recognize it, just can't put a finger on it...it still looks pretty young so when it gets older you can tell for sure.

sort of resembles a clown lab, as they get older they turn more blue. the body shape is a little different though so idk...

Yeahh he is a bit more streamlined than that particular fish but you probably know more than I do... It's hard to say because he was alone in the tank... I don't think it's terribly important for me to know the genus/species at this time (correct me if I'm wrong) but I'd like to know at least what lake he is from/what type he is. According to what I've read that's pretty important for feeding, etc.

He looks like he could possibly be Neolamprologus toae from Lake Tanganyika. But again its hard to tell with one so young.
:-)

ya, the body looks more like it's a Pseudotropheus or something like that, but the important thing is what lake he's from. I don't know a whole lot about tanganyika or victoria fish though.

My first guess was a Demasoni but it is too light for that. I'll browse through some pictures and see if i can't figure it out :)

its way to young to tell yet.. but if i was to guess i would say a zebra.... perhaps a red top? .... not really sure though G/L
