Those metal sinkers that come on the plants you buy.
Are they ok to keep on the plant in your aquarium? I'm assuming it is, since they were in the aquarium with fish at my LFS, and they seem to do everything else the right way. But I was wondering what everyone's opinion on them was here. I have them in my tank on my anacharis and ludwigia, and was planning on keeping them on at least until some good roots were established on the plants.

I always remove them, as they are usually lead based.
If you want to leave them on until some roots form I'd think it would be okay, I just wouldn't leave them in the tank forever.

From what I understand they should be fine to leave in while you let the roots establish. If you're really worried about it they make fishing line weights that are advertised as "eco-friendly". I'm using some in my tank
. Take what I say with a grain of salt though as I'm still very new at all this.

I'll take them out once some roots establish. I'm guessing they can't be too harmful to fish, since they're in most tanks at my LFS, and every fish I've ever gotten from there has been extremely healthy.
This is a good question I always wondered that I have saved mine and thinking about using one because I cant seem to keep some of my new plants down grrr
